Southeastern Channel - Southeastern Louisiana University (Hammond, LA)
Rick Settoon, General Manager
"The Video Technics solution gives us greater flexibility in the scheduling and playback process, enabling us to have fewer re-runs. The change will increase our efficiency in logistics and traffic as we move toward a tapeless environment, and we can already see an improvement in the quality of our footage on the Apella. I’m impressed with the ease and speed of operation with which we can move content from the editing workstation to on-air playback.
The new graphics will also improve branding for the channel and enable us to provide timely announcements, such as emergency weather bulletins, for our viewing audience. One reason we chose Video Technics is because we get to deal directly with the manufacturer rather than going through a third party – and we have already seen the benefits of that in the fast support, training, and personal service we have received to date."

Stephen Zaffuto, Operations Manager
"Video Technics was the only vendor we looked at which had integrated all on-air functions into its own system – all the others had to bring in third-party software, hardware, or both, which has created complications for us in the past. We like that it is scalable both in terms of future storage capacity and in the ability to expand our workflow to HD production. Previously, we spent a lot of time managing our storage capacity by manually deleting and moving content. Now with the new storage capacity, combined with VT’s import and export tools, we can keep more content accessible nearline, and easily bring it online whenever we need it."

KATV (Little Rock, AK) - Allbritton Communications
Allen Finne, Director of Engineering
"Our overall experience with NewsFlow has been positive, and we feel it is advantageous to have a single vendor of newsroom systems for editing, play-to-air, and archive, minimizing the need to learn a different vendor's workflow for each function. By continuing to scale our solution with Video Technics over the past two years, operator learning curve and technical integration issues have been intuitive and incremental. Also, VT as a single vendor has always been very responsive and helpful with 24/7 support. It works well with Sundance automation, and the VT Proxy Browser embedded in ENPS is so intuitive that we don't even think about it - we just use it.
Regarding the VT Media Archive Library, our operators are excited by the ability to search the database for archived content, restore it, and drag it into a project within minutes without having to go find a videotape and ingest it. We archive around 400 clips/week that have been aired or are historically newsworthy. Since KATV has heavily archived for almost 50 years and has dedicated a large area in our facility solely to tape storage, we are pleased to be implementing such an elegant solution that integrates perfectly with our existing newsroom system. "

Miami-Dade TV (Miami-Dade County, FL)
Tony Vivian, Production Manager
"Our producers like the fact that they can review the automatically-generated proxy files immediately after recording meetings, studio productions, or regular programming, edit the media in VT Proxy Editor and then drop it right into a playout script in VT Scheduler, all from their desktops without having to sit in the noisy control room. Furthermore, we perform our craft editing on Avid NLE workstations, and then drag and drop the finished files into the VT Media Exchange HotFolder, which automatically makes the media available for scripting and playout.
We use VT Scheduler extensively to capture scheduled satellite feeds from the Florida News Channel, which broadcasts the proceedings of the state legislature. Since going live with the system in mid-2007, we have enjoyed the ease with which VT’s built-in asset management helps our team to access the centralized storage from the remote workstations of their choosing to preview, edit, and script media for playout. We can now multi-purpose media for broadcast, webcasting, and DVD publishing and then archive it in less time than it takes to record it. Editing, broadcasting and archiving those long meetings is no longer such a monumental effort. "

KTUL (Tulsa, OK) - Allbritton Communications
Roger Herring, Director of Operations
"VT offers a solution that fits our budget and provides a lot of features through their integrated design that we would not have been able to implement otherwise. The support from VT has been very consistent, and they are always ready to find solutions to any problems that come up. The Apella VDCP interface with Sundance automation is solid.
We produce four hours of news a day, and needed to archive the associated clips. We wanted something that would interface very well with our existing NewsFlow solution, and so a custom solution created by VT was the best possible fit."

KTUL Manages Assets with Video Technics

WDAY (Fargo, ND) and WDAZ (Grand Forks, ND)
Sue Eider, WDAY Programming
Director
"WDAY TV’s on-air look has improved ten-fold – fewer
human mistakes and almost non-existent mistakes due to a
technical failure. The ratings will tell the ultimate story.
It is apparent to everyone that WDAY TV has much cleaner and
very tight, quick-paced shows. This would not have been
accomplished without NewsFlow, Apella servers integrating
with ENPS.
What this conversion has done
is reduced stress and frustration with old tape machines in
the edit bays. Bringing the packages and content to air has
become very efficient, the packages are ready to air and
brought to air with minimal work.
One word describes the
technical support experience with Video Technics: Awesome!
The entire staff of WDAY TV believes that without VT’s
on-site commissioning and training, the aggressive timetable
set for our digital conversion, would have been disastrous.
VT’s knowledge and commitment to the project was what every
station hopes for during a conversion yet rarely
experiences. Video Technics delivered what was promised and
the service after the sale has been the best. I would highly
recommend Video Technics. They are raising the bar of
customer service and support!"

Errett
Porter, Director of Engineering, Clear Channel’s KLRT
"Two years
ago KLRT built its news operation around Video Technics' NewsFlow and AP's ENPS
computerized newsroom and we have eliminated the need for humans to move video
content from place to place. NewsFlow reduces the number of times material is
ever touched by a human and therefore the potential of error. KLRT has been very
pleased with the reliability and video server uptime Video Technics has brought
to our newsroom."

“Using
NewsFlow and Video Technics' software Plug-ins makes getting content and
breaking news stories to air seamless for faster overall production time. The VT
Project Manager organizes all media for the entire editing
process. With reliable asset management, editors can save and retrieve their
projects from any editing bay for more media availability. The VT Proxy Editor
allows users to browse the entire database, and it's so easy to create a VO, SOT
or Tease from the Proxy timeline and simply "drag-and-drop" into the
Adobe Premiere Pro
Project Bin providing efficient
newsroom browsing and editing. With the VT Export to Apella plug-in inside Premiere Pro, getting your story to air is straightforward with just a "click".
The VT Plug-ins are user-friendly and eliminate the need to leave your project,
making the editing process faster and more productive!"

KGET

John
Pilios, News Director, KGET
"The switch to the NewsFlow system from Video Technics was part of a
complete transition to a newsroom without tape. NewsFlow's capability of
ingesting video files from Fire Store hard drives and its ease of use made it
the right system for KGET. After researching several other options, NewsFlow's
price point also made it the right choice in these days of tight budgets and
lofty expectations. The video quality of the news product has been
enhanced tremendously and the NewsFlow proxy editors allow our producers to view
all video from their desktop. The system also integrates with our Associated
Press ENPS newsroom automation, while the technical support and service we
received from Video Technics was truly superior and very helpful."
